What is the TOEIC Test?

The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) measures English proficiency for the workplace and global communication. It’s widely used by employers to evaluate language skills for job roles requiring English. The test has two main sections: Listening & Reading, which assesses comprehension, and Speaking & Writing, which evaluates communication skills.

TOEIC Test Overview and Scoring

The TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) evaluates English proficiency for workplace and global communication. It consists of four sections:

  • Listening & Reading: This section tests your ability to understand spoken and written English in professional contexts, including conversations, announcements, emails, and reports. Each section is scored on a scale of 5 to 495 points, for a combined maximum score of 990 points.

  • Speaking & Writing: This section measures your ability to express yourself clearly in spoken and written English. The Speaking test focuses on pronunciation, fluency, and responding to prompts, while the Writing test evaluates grammar, vocabulary, and written organization. Each section is scored from 0 to 200 points, with a combined maximum score of 400 points.

The total maximum TOEIC score for all four sections is 1,390 points. Employers and organizations worldwide use TOEIC scores to assess your readiness for professional roles requiring English communication.
